Democracy does not end with a checkmark on a ballot.
The responsibility is ours to keep in touch with the activities of our government and inform our Member of Parliament where we stand on issues. Current government does not actively try to facilitate this and makes obtaining accurate information extremely difficult. The people within constituencies are overruled by party leaders, effectively giving us one choice for 4-5 years in a majority situation. I do not believe that represents democratic values. The time is ideal for strong, independent candidates who can represent our views in Ottawa.
I created the Electoral Partnership to empower Members of Parliament to inform and represent the people of their ridings. Many may argue that a Member of Parliament who doesn't form his own opinions is a weak one. I happen to agree. MP opinions will be included on the issues, but count as much as yours do. We are here to represent the views of the constituents, not dictate them.
Together we can make a statement showing Canadians want choice.
